Your new home has a pre-installed home security system
Many times after you buy a house, you’ll see that the previous owners left a security system. All the alarms and cameras work, are placed in the best areas, and are ready to go. In this example, all you might have to do is to call and establish a new contract. A Vivint expert will still come to your home to ensure there are no usability issues, and they may offer options on upgrades. It's a quick visit, and you can get your monitoring set up without worrying about any new alarms and cameras -- unless you add on.
The previous owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up cost to make the process easier. If the previous owners downsize to an apartment or smaller home, turning over the Vivint contract may be a part of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your old equipment with you
You might need to bring along your favorite Vivint system with you to your new home when you move. That’s pretty simple to transfer, as modern components are wireless. You can take down each component by yourself or contact a Vivint installer to take care of the system. Then an expert will put in the same devices -- and any new things you want -- in your new home. Your home security contract will remain the same.
